The look Norton gave him was not friendly. Maybe Officer Norton didn't like anybody. Or maybe he was white and Ramirez wasn't. He was old and Ramirez was young. He was going to end his career in uniform and Ramirez was already in plainclothes. Prejudice and jealousy are often close kin. Or maybe Norton was just in a bad mood. | Commentary | * Officer Norton was on duty at the Bromwell house when Anita and Edward showed up. * He doesn't like Anita upon first meeting her (big surprise) and gets her to show ID and explain why she is wearing her gun unconcealed. * While he is polite, there is a bitterness about him. He appears to have put in about thirty years with the police force and doesn't much like the fact he has to obey orders from a younger superior, namely Ramirez. |
