Ghouls | |

"'I was about finished. I knew what had killed the man. Ghouls. I had narrowed the search down to a particular kind of undead. Bully for me. The coroner could have told them that." (Guilty Pleasures, page 21, paragraph 5) |

| Commentary | * For a long time,
the theory behind how ghouls were made was bandied about by animators. * It was well known that ghouls emerge from unholy cemeteries where vaudun or satanic rites have been performed. Also, it was known that they crawl out of their graves on their own. They do not rot like zombies, and they possess rudimentary animal intelligence. Since they are no longer human and more animalistic, they tend to stay in packs with one another. * Cowardly, they usually will leave humans alone, attacking only when it is obvious that they have the upper hand, as they are active scavengers. Or unless someone is controlling them. * In GP, Anita discovers that ghouls come about when an animator is buried in a cemetery. When he/she also comes back to life, the ghouls become theirs to control. However, there are possible flaws in this idea that Anita will need to iron out at a later date, since the only one she could discuss it with wanted to kill her. (Zachary) Probably only an animator that is in control of their own thoughts and actions can bring ghouls to life, since the animator zombie in LaC had no ghouls rising with him that were mentioned. |
