Magnus smiled gently. "The unseelie court is evil, cruel. What I do here is not evil." (Bloody Bones, page 67, paragraph 16) |

Faeries are scientifically called homo arcanus because while they can breed with
humans, they themselves are not humans. * They have certain kinds of magic available to them, including glamour, which essentially is illusory in nature. It clouds the minds of those they cast it upon, making things seem better or worse than they are, depending upon the situation. However, it only works well with powerful faeries, either high court, Daoine Sidhe, the seelie court of faeries or the unseelie court, which interbreeds with mortals. Also, plants appear to react to them. Trees, bushes, flowers, etc, seem to move out of their way when they pass. * Silver is friend to the fey, and the only metal that is inimical to them is iron. Ointment can be used to protect against fey magic, like glamour. It can be made of St. John's Wort, red verbena, daisies, rowan and ash. Four-leaf clovers can also be used against them. The ointment needs to be spread over eyelids, mouth, ears and hands. * Rawhide and Bloody Bones is a specific kind of faerie. It is more a nursery boggle and it is immortal. It was supposed to eat bad children. The Bouviers were supposed to be its guardians, keeping it locked in its grave using their dead as stakes to hold it down as well as a combination of Indian, Christian, and faerie power. There were three hills holding it in, but when Raymond Sterling began to dig up one of the hills, it began to break free. Llyn Bouvier had captured it and made a potion of it's blood in order to gain magic. His descendants benefited from the magic. However, Magnus Bouvier used it again, giving some of his blood in exchange for taking some of its blood. This made it mortal, so that Anita was able to kill it. * Never break your word to a fey, for it negates all bargains. Salt can be used to break the power of a fey as well. |
