Commentary * Elvira is a witch. She and two other witches hunted lycanthropes for their skins. A werewolf, a wereleopard, and what ended up being a naga. Using a spell, they would be able to use the skin as if they were lycanthropes without any of the drawbacks associated with the preternatural creatures. However, in order for the spell to work, the shifter had to die. Since naga are immortal, there was one witness to their skinning and killing crimes.

* Elvira also tried to get Anita to help her by getting information about other shapeshifters, ostensibly for a "book" she was writing. Since the naga skin did not pan out, she tried to get information about wererats. Anita was able to set up an appointment with Louis, and nearly got him killed. However, Anita, Dolph, Zerbrowski and a contingency of police managed to stop them.

* Since Elvira used magic to kill the shifters, it is considered an automatic death sentence. Although it is not mentioned in the book, it is presumed that she is dead.
